About the Course

    Many organisations are beginning to inculcate business analytics to derive maximum value from their existing data. Under data analytics, this short course can help support the basic technical skills needed for data management and knowledge on business analytics that allows better decision making in the Finance industry.

    This course will introduce the learner to an overview of business analytics and data management in the finance sector. Learners will understand data lifecycle, governance, security, privacy and preparation. The learners will also understand data preparation techniques prior to analysis. Learners will be able to analyse practical data commonly used in the financial industry.

    Trainers Profile:

    1) Andrea has more than 10 years’ teaching experience. She is passionate about adopting teaching pedagogies such as Flipped Classroom, Team-based Learning and Active Learning to better engaging students in their learning process. She has done many industrial and R&D projects and has a strong interest in Healthcare, Knowledge Management, FinTech, and Blockchain project. She is proficient in Python, Java, C#, C++, C, JavaScript, and Web Application Development.

    2) Gerald started his career with PwC Singapore’s Audit and Assurance services where he managed audit engagements mainly in the FMCG and Hospitality sectors. He then moved on to financial and management accounting roles at a private equity firm that invested in aspirational brands in F&B, Fashion and Media & Entertainments sectors, as well as at a NASDAQ-listed IT firm headquartered in Seattle. His current academic interest are in areas of data analytics, programming and machine learning techniques.
